World Darts Championship: Michael van Gerwen fires warning to Phil Taylor
 

Dutchman Van Gerwen, 28, begins the defence of his crown at the Ally Pally this evening as the competition starts.
It is the 25th year of the PDC championship and a big occasion being Phil Taylor’s last event.
But Van Gerwen, who faces fellow Dutchman Christian Kist in the third match of the night, is the World No 1 and on his way to lifting the trophy in January he set a championship record average of 114.05 as he beat Raymond Van Barneveld in the semis.
And he has warned the likes of Taylor of what he needs to do to beat him.
