Why there are roadworks on the A6 in Leicester and when they will end

The roadworks which have appeared in the A6 Abbey Lane due to a water main burst are to continue this week.
A leak took place at the site over the weekend.
A main burst in the road, near the junction with Thurcaston Road, near Red Hill Circle, on Saturday morning at 7.24am.
Severn Trent sent out engineers to the incident to repair the burst pipe, which caused residents to lose their water supply for a time.
All residents had their water supply restored by about 5pm on Saturday.
However, in order to repair the pipe, roadworks had to be undertaken by Severn Trent and they remain there today.... read more
