Why protesters were outside Leicester's Highcross McDonald's
 

Trade unionists and activists held a demonstration outside Leicester’s Highcross McDonald’s this evening calling for improved pay and conditions for employees of the fast food chain.
Up to a dozen members of the Bakers, Food and Allied Workers Union (BFAWU), carrying placards and banners, gathered outside the restaurant, by the Clock Tower, to hand out leaflets and talk to passers-by.
The event was organised to support an official strike by McDonald’s workers at six London restaurants held earlier in the day.
