We went to Nuneaton's night shelter - this is what we saw
 

It's 6.40pm and cold. Not quite freezing but enough to make me pull my jacket tighter around me. 
The short drive to the Salvation Army HQ had given me butterflies. And not the nice ones. I was nervous going along, I admit. Even my mum said ‘please be careful, Claire'. 
As I walked towards the HQ, I could see a queue of people outside. I had one of those "am I doing the right thing" moments. I could have been putting my seven-year-old daughter to bed or curled up on the sofa with a cuppa.
