Over 300 people were arrested in December for drink and drug-driving offences and police have vowed to continue their crackdown.
Through roadside testing, officers were able to report and lock up hundreds of drivers in Merseyside who broke the law and got behind the wheel while under the influence.
Previously, officers would have had to prove that a driver under the influence was impaired and a blood or urine sample taken.
But now, a law that was introduced in 2015, has made it easier for police to tackle drug drivers.
