ON TUESDAY May 3, Brandon Lewis, the Housing Minister responsible for driving the government’s Housing and Planning Bill through Parliament, rejected 12 of the 13 amendments proposed by the House of Lords.
Financial privilege, a convention that deters peers from voting against the government’s Budget, was invoked in six of the amendments refused.
