So much has changed since this Leicester main road view was captured 100 years ago



This fabulous photo of one of Leicester’s busy routes into the city centre was taken more than 100 years ago.
We wonder how many of our readers recognise the road?
This is Woodgate, looking towards Frog Island and the city centre.
Behind the cameraman is what is now the junction of Groby Road, Blackbird Road and Fosse Road North.
The image probably dates to about 1910 (the trams had been electrified since 1904).
Note the pony and trap is still a popular mode of transport in those pre-First World War days.
