Scourge of drugs claimed Emily's life

THE "terrible scourge of addiction" caused the death of a young Cleckheaton woman. Coroner Roger Whittaker recorded a verdict of dependent use of drugs after hearing that Emily Rodgers, of Butts Yard, Cleckheaton, overdosed on heroin.
Miss Rodgers, 26, had a history of drug use but with the help of her family had tried hard to become drug-free. She returned with her mother and her eight-year-old child from a nine-month spell in a rehabilitation centre in Poland the day before her death on September 30.
