Scots student on US gun charges claims he 'unintentionally fired' weapon in 'freak accident'
 

A Scots medical student facing gun and assault charges in the US yesterday insisted he is innocent.
Glasgow University student Tony Boyd, 23, was arrested in Wisconsin for allegedly attacking his vet girlfriend Sophie Kelly and firing a gun at her.
But he yesterday claimed he fired the gun in a freak accident after he found her in her bedroom with one of her male colleagues.
He insists he found the weapon in the man’s bag after both of them had fled – and no one was near when it went off.
