Sayeeda Warsi and Jo Miller: Building for the future and learning from Grenfell means putting social housing first – here’s the how and why

YORKSHIRE was well represented in this week’s landmark report by Shelter’s social housing commission report which called for an ambitious 3.1 million new social homes to be built over the next 20 years. That’s a massive increase on the current 6,000 new social homes per year currently being built.
We are two of the 16 commissioners who produced that report, along with Doncaster North MP Ed Miliband. Brought together by Shelter following the Grenfell Tower fire, we examined the housing crisis in England as it exists today.
