Purse thief who continued to deny she had stolen it handed £270 bill

Jennifer Mennell, 34, of Shipton Close, east Hull, was discharged conditionally for 12 months, and must pay £50 compensation, for stealing a purse containing cash and personal belongings. Mennell, who denied the offence but was found guilty after a trial, must pay £200 costs and a £20 surcharge.
Colin Foley, 55, of Cyprus Street, east Hull, must do 40 hours of unpaid work, and have up to 20 days rehabilitation, for assault by beating. He was made subject to a three-year restraining order and must pay £120 costs and an £85 surcharge.
