Police officer convicted of drink driving to have private trial to decide future in force
 

The future of a police officer convicted of drink-driving will be decided behind closed doors.
PC Lee Kirk, 42, was convicted of being nearly three times of the drink drive limit and banned from the roads for 18 months.
Kirk, of Hatterall Court, Ingleby Barwick, Teesside was also fined £430 by magistrates in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.
The officer was pulled over on Blair Avenue on December 17 and tested positive for having 100 mg of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath – nearly three times over the 35mg limit.
