More than £430,000 spent on Walsall Council staff settlements



Cash-strapped Walsall Council spent more than £430,000 in 'compromise agreements' with 30 staff in just three years.
Figures obtained through a Freedom of Information request revealed the eye-watering sum the authority forked out between 2015 and 2018 to settle claims with former employees.
Companies and public sector organisations often go down the route of the private settlements - dubbed 'gagging agreements' by critics - to prevent any future claims and tribunals against being taken out against them.
