Met Office warns over 'shock to the system' deep-freeze weather blast as temperatures plunge

The Met Office has issued a warning over Britons experiencing a "shock to the system" this week.
The warnings from the agency come temperatures dip sharply after a spell of unseasonably warm weather.
Parts of northern Scotland could even see sleet and flurries of snow.
Further south the mercury is unlikely to go beyond single figures, the Met Office said.
In Birmingham, you can expect a chilly but bright start on Monday.
Then dry throughout the day with the best of the sunshine through the morning and perhaps a little more cloud by the afternoon.
