Merseyside school sends pupils and teachers home in midst of toilet block fire

Pupils have been sent home from a Merseyside school after a fire started inside a toilet block.
Staff at the St Edmund Arrowsmith Catholic Centre for Learning took the decision to close the school, sending home both children and staff, after the blaze took hold at 9.30am.
The fire began inside the toilets on the second floor of the Whiston school and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service were called in at 9.33am to fight the flames.
Two fire engines were sent to the scene and when crews arrived they extinguished the fire.
