Matt Hancock accused of ‘whitesplaining’ Islamophobia by senior Muslim Tory
Tory cabinet member Matt Hancock has been accused of ‘whitesplaining’ Islamaphobia by a senior Muslim Tory peer.
The Health secretary sparked a row after suggesting other conservatives took a more ‘balanced approach’ to the issue than former chairman Sayeeda Warsi.
Baroness Warsi has been campaigning for a full independent inquiry into racism towards Muslims within the Tory ranks.
Speaking to BBC Radio 4’s Today Programme, Mr Hancock said: ‘Well look, I like Sayeeda (Warsi), she has a particular view on this. There are others who take a more balanced approach.’
