Joke is on Ferdinand and Wilshire as April Fools' Day posts backfire
 

Manchester United defender Ferdinand claimed on his Twitter page that he had been signed up to appear on Dancing On Ice, while Arsenal midfielder Wilshire suggested that boss Arsene Wenger was ready to sell him in the summer.
The posts appeared to be attempts at duping the media into reporting bogus stories on a day that is notorious for prank press releases and red herrings.
Earlier today, West Ham United forward Carlton Cole caught out one red top newspaper after claiming he had been dropped from the squad for this weekend's match.
