England women’s manager Phil Neville has been speaking to Manchester United chief Ed Woodward about his former club’s attempt at setting up their own women’s team.
Neville, whose Lionesses face Wales in a World Cup qualifier at St Mary’s Stadium tomorrow, feels the Women’s Super League ‘brand’ would benefit significantly from United’s involvement.
‘They are in the bidding process now but it is only right that there is a women’s team at Manchester United,’ Neville said. ‘I spoke to Ed Woodward the other day and he is very positive about it.
