Hull woman with 'excruciating' back pain surviving on £1 ready meals after having Universal Credit stopped

A struggling Hull woman crippled by back pain says she is surviving off £1 ready meals from Heron Foods after having her benefits sanctioned.
Gemma Bailey lives on her own in a flat in Pearson Park near Princes Avenue and was receiving Universal Credit until her benefits were stopped a few months ago.
The 22-year-old owes more than £200 in rent to the council and has just £20 left to last her the rest of August after receiving her latest instalment of hardship payments – a loan given to people who have had their benefits sanctioned.
