'Floating' tracks carry farm vehicles across mountain bogs

New “floating" tracks could enable hill farmers and gamekeepers to drive across upland bogs without damaging fragile habitats.
Trials in North Yorkshire showed that some vehicles can successfully traverse blanket bogs on wood-and-mesh tracks without incurring the wrath of conservationists.
The study was part-sponsored by the Moorland Association, which wants to retain some vehicle access on moors whilst preserving peatland bogs at the same time.
