Fitting farewell for Northumberland farmer who made his final journey on a vintage tractor

A family paid tribute to a much-loved Northumberland farmer who made his final journey on a vintage tractor.
The funeral of Ken Coates, 86, was held on Tuesday at St John’s Church in Snods Edge.
Ken, who had son Ian, 61, and daughters Pauline, 65, and Gail, 50, loved tractors, photography and the colour red.
In tribute to his passions, his final journey to Mountsett Crematorium was made on a red vintage tractor.
Pauline said: “He worked with traction steam engines and loved to paint them.
“Everything had to be red - he loved the colour red.”
