Fire crews in Croft stop lorry blaze spreading to fuel tank containing 3,000 litres of diesel



Crews prevented fire spreading to 3,000 litres of fuel on a burning lorry last night.
A blaze broke out in the braking system and axle of the trailer unit in Coventry Road, Croft.
Several people took to social media reporting having heard an “explosion”.
Crews from Hinckley and Leicester’s Southern fire stations, which went to the scene shortly after 10pm, prevented the fire spreading to the trailer unit’s 3,000 litres of red diesel.
Police were called to control traffic while firefighters tackled the blaze, which severely damaged the tyre and wheels.
