'Extremely drunk' student stabbed a tram shelter
 

A MATURE student dodged an immediate jail term after attacking a city tram shelter with a gardening knife.
Paul Chivers admitted having a knife in Old Market Square and was given a six week prison term, suspended for six months.
Nottingham Magistrates Court heard on Thursday that he was drunk at the time of the attack.
Magistrate Patricia Pennington told the 35-year-old: "Carrying a knife, being in drink, outside a public house, late at night in the city centre; very aggravating circumstances."It could make people fear for their safety over something which luckily didn't... read more
