Don’t panic, but our Earth is drifting and wobbling on its spin axis – an imaginary line that passes through the North and South Poles.
The spin axis is drifting about four inches per year – or 11 yards per century, and it’s partly our fault, NASA says.
It’s not time to head for the doomsday bunkers: but NASA says one of the triggers for the drift is man-made climate change, with melting ice in Greenland causing ‘polar motion’.
In fact, there’s three factors behind the movement: mass loss primarily in Greenland, glacial rebound, and mantle convection, NASA saays.
