Crash driver who ran from police hands himself in next day



A Derbyshire carpet fitter who crashed his car during a high speed chase phoned the police the next day to hand himself in.
Joshua Hughes “panicked” when he saw a marked police car as he was driving while using his mobile phone and fled.
During the pursuit, the 27-year-old drove at 70mph in a 30mph residential street before mounting a grass verge where his passenger got out and ran away.
Hughes then reversed back towards the chasing police car which had to take evasive action to avoid being hit.
