Convicted killer says we need ‘new ways’ of dealing with knife crime
 

A convicted killer has slammed the government for ‘continuing to invest in the same failures’ and says the UK needs ‘new ways’ of dealing with knife crime.
Stephen Mellor, 41, who was jailed for 14 years for the murder of John Dookie, 22, says he believes more should be done to stop teens buying blades over the internet.
The soon to be dad-of-five blames the closure of youth centres and lack of trust between police and the local community for the rise in fatal stabbings.
