'Controlling' dad-of-four tried to strangle partner in vodka-fuelled rage at Manchester's Macdonald Hotel
 

A dad-of-four tried to strangle his partner in a drunken rage at the Macdonald Hotel in Manchester - before repeatedly stamping on her head in another sickening attack a month later.
'Controlling' John McIver was described as a 'danger' to his partner, having attacked her on numerous occasions.
He has now been sentenced to four years and two months in prison following a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court.
McIver, 29, had already been banned from seeing his victim and was serving a suspended sentence for assaulting her in three previous incidents.
