Compromise over 'ridiculous' plans to close popular riverside footpath between Hessle and North Ferriby

A compromise has been welcomed over a “ridiculous” riverside path closure between Hessle and North Ferriby.
Network Rail came under fire for keeping people in the dark over the closure of the path, feared to be for as long as a year.
But the contractors have now assured Hessle Town Council the path alongside the Humber is expected to be shut for only 10 weeks for emergency ground investigation work, with public access at weekends.
A further closure may be necessary within the six-month closure licence period, if stabilisation works are required.
