Cleethorpes naval intelligence officer honoured by the President of France
 

A former Royal Navy serviceman has been honoured with a special medal awarded by the President of France, Emmanuel Macron to thank him for his role ahead of D-Day in the Second World War.
Walter Marshall was presented with the Ordre National de la Legion d’Honneur.
The 92-year-old ex-serviceman from Cleethorpes was appointed with the rank of “Chevalier.”
At a special ceremony hosted in Cleethorpes by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire, Brian Marsh, Walter said: “This is an honour not just for me but for Grimsby and Cleethorpes.”
