Birmingham sacking has made me a better manager, says Derby County boss Gary Rowett



It is a year since Derby County manager Gary Rowett was surprisingly sacked by Birmingham City.
Rowett was given his marching orders by the Blues, even though the team was only just outside the Championship play-off zone on goal difference.
He was out of work until March, when he was appointed Rams boss following the departure of Steve McClaren.
He brought in Kevin Summerfield, Mark Sale and Kevin Poole to join his backroom staff - all of who worked with him at Birmingham.
Rowett took charge of the final nine games of last season as his new side finished ninth in the table.
