Birmingham bin strike is finally OVER



The Birmingham bin strike is all but over after city council bosses approved settlements worth £3,500 each to striking workers in order to end the 'secret payments' dispute.
Today's cabinet decision can still be challenged via a 'call-in' application but residents can expect their normal weekly collections to resume on Monday.
The dispute, which has been going on since December 29, has cost the council at least £5.8m including the costs of the settlements, legal fees and paying for agency staff to provide cover.
