Arsonists blamed for fire in 11-storey building in Lee Circle area of Leicester



A fire in a derelict office block in Leicester city centre this evening was started by an arsonist, it is believed.
Fire crews were called to the former Crown Building, in Lower Hill Street, in the Lee Circle area, shortly before 7pm,
They had to force their way inside in order to get to the fire, which was on the first floor of the 11-storey of the former office block.
They believe piled up rubbish, including old office furniture, had been set alight.
Once they had extinguished the fire, the crews checked the building for rough-sleepers or other trespassers, but found none.
