Alcohol could get more expensive after health advisers call for minimum pricing

The price of alcohol may increase after a new government report argued minimum pricing could improve the nation’s health.
A plan to introduce a mandatory price was shelved by the coalition government three years ago but it could be set to make a comeback.
Public Health England’s (PHE) review argued the move would help save on healthcare costs if combined with measures such as regulation of advertising from alcohol firms.
