Your poo could actually be making you fat, scientists warn



No, it’s not the snacks you have between meals – the reason you put on weight could well be your poo, scientists have claimed.
Or more specifically the bacteria in your poo – the faecal microbes which are unique to us all, and which we inherit from our parents.
Researchers have identified a new link between the diversity of bacteria in human excrement – known as the human faecal microbiome – and levels of abdominal body fat.
The study, published in the journal Genome Biology, found people with a more diverse community of bacteria in their poo had generally lower levels of belly fat.
