Plants that produce berries now and remain well into the winter provide a colourful and interesting finale to the year, they also provide a valuable source of food for hungry garden birds throughout the winter.
As Halloween approaches I can remember as a child mixing up all manner of berries such as Elder, Hawthorn and Rowan into a slurry-like concoction thinking at the time it might have magical powers.
