You should never eat this salad vegetable raw, food poisoning expert warns



Most of us imagine you get food poisoning from dirty doner meat from late-night vans – or warm prawns at wedding buffets.
But actually, something lurking in your salad bowl could kill you – or at the very least turn your bottom into a brown-coloured geyser of liquid filth.
Professor Tim Spector of King’s College says in an essay for The Conversation that beansprouts and watercress are best avoided – and killed 50 people in a recent food poisoning outbreak.
In America, raw and lightly cooked sprouts have been linked to more than 30 bacterial food poisoning incidents in the last 20 years.... read more
