World's rarest magpies at Chester Zoo - and they're GREEN



For the first time ever in the UK, bird experts at Chester Zoo have bred a GREEN magpie - one of the most endangered species in the world.
The Javan green magpie is perilously close to extinction in the wild and with no recent sightings reported, the situation is only worsening.
Four of the green magpies have hatched at Chester Zoo which will provide a major boost to conservation efforts to save the species from extinction.
Eventually the unusual birds will be returned to their native Indonesia.
