World No 1 Angelique Kerber safely into Hong Kong Open second round as she makes light work of Maria Sakkari 



World No 1 Angelique Kerber booked a safe passage into the second round of the Hong Kong Open with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Maria Sakkari of Greece.
The German top seed quickly recovered from losing her opening service game to twice break the 21-year-old and go on to close out what was a routine victory in one hour and 22 minutes.
Also safely through to the second round was third seed Johanna Konta as the British No 1 beat compatriot Naomi Broady 6-2, 6-2 to maintain her progress from reaching the China Open final.
