Work starts on new Lidl discount supermarket that will create 40 jobs
 

Work has begun on the construction of a new Lidl supermarket in North Tyneside.
The discount store is being built at Comet Row, at the Stephenson Industrial Estate in Killingworth - the site of the former Chan warehouse which was demolished in 2014.
The plan to develop the new supermarket was given the go-ahead by North Tyneside Council earlier this year.
Lidl is now working with construction firm Taemar and hopes to complete the project within nine months. The store is expected to open in summer 2017, creating up to 40 new jobs.
