Women a minority among top earners, researchers say



LONDON (Thomson Reuters Foundation) - Women account for a fraction of the richest people in eight of the world's wealthiest countries and the gender gap gets wider the higher the income bracket, a study by the London School of Economics showed on Tuesday.
Using tax data from Spain, Denmark, Italy, Canada, New Zealand, Britain, Australia and Norway, researchers found that women account for less than a third of the wealthiest 10 percent of society.
They make up less than a quarter of the wealthiest 1 percent and less than a sixth of the top-earning 0.1 percent, the report said.
