Woman, 85, stable after car plunges 30ft into stream
 

An 85-year-old woman whose car plunged 30ft into a stream in the Lake District remains in hospital.
Police confirmed today that she is now in a stable condition.
The woman, believed to be from Glenridding, was airlifted to Preston General Hospital on Friday, December 8, in a critical condition.
Her Hyundai car left the A592 at about 4.55pm.
Police, firefighters and paramedics were joined by members of the Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team and a rescue helicopter from Prestwick.
Firefighters removed the roof of her car to reach her and got her out with the help of mountain rescuers.
