Wirral water pipe burst was second in five days
 

A WATER pipe burst which saw Wirral schools closed for the day and hundreds of homes without water was the second in five days.
United Utilities confirmed that the burst - on the M53 southbound between Woodchurch and Bebington this morning - came after another burst in a similar location at the weekend.
Emergency services were also called out to crashes on a similar stretch of the M53 on both Saturday and today (Wednesday).
A spokesman for United Utilities said: “We’ve had a burst on a 12” water main that runs near junction 4 of the M53.”
