Wirral Council to introduce 'flag flying protocol'
 

Councillors in Wirral are set to make one of their more unusual decisions this week – when and how to fly flags.
The authority is set to approve a formal protocol for when the Union flag should be flown, plus when – and even how – it should be lowered to half mast.
Full mast days include occasions such as the Queen’s birthday, Armistice Day and St George’s Day through to United Nations Day and the election of the Mayor.
A Wirral council spokesman said: “This protocol formalises flag-flying arrangements locally and will ensure that we more closely adhere to national guidelines.”
