Winter is here as first snowfall is recorded in Cumbria
 

The first snowfall of winter has been recorded in Cumbria.
The dusting was recorded atop Great Dunn Fell on Tuesday - making it the first place in England to experience snow in winter 2016.
While there is barely enough to form a decent snowball - let alone a snowman - for many it marks the beginning of the cold spell.
A spokeswoman for the Met Office said it is not too uncommon to see snow on mountain tops or higher ground during October.
However, the forecaster warned that it may be some time before we expect to see the white stuff on lower levels.
