Winter is coming... just very slowly! A stay at a five-star 'corporate Winterfell' hotel on the shores of Loch Lomond is marred by atrocious service - but the Sleeper train is charming

Of the many ways in which you can travel to Scotland, the sleeper train has to be the most romantic. It may be cramped, noisy and rather old-fashioned, but that’s all part of the charm.
But can it be done with kids? A tricky decision. On the one hand, it's astonishingly exciting for them. On the other, you can't board until 11pm and the train arrives in the early morning. Which means they're going to be knackered.
