Why was everyone wearing black at last night's Golden Globe awards in Hollywood?

Hollywood united in solidarity at The Golden Globes on Sunday evening by wearing black on the red carpet.
This year’s ceremony was a much more muted affair in contrast to the bright and bold fashions we’ve seen in previous years.
A host of A-listers, including Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Meryl Streep, Natalie Portman, Oprah Winfrey and Angelina Jolie sported colour-free gowns in protest of industry-wide sexual harassment.
