Why is London's stock market nearing its record high as the pound falls to levels not seen since the 1980s?



London's leading stock market index pushed back through the 7,000 mark as it closed in on it's all-time high today, but the pound tumbled to levels not seen since 1985.
The FTSE 100 has leapt 1.8 per cent at 7,119.1 this session - closing in its all time intra-day high of 7,122.7 and its record close of 7,103.9. At the same time its smaller cousin, the FTSE 250, climbed 1.2 per cent to touch an all-time high of 18,566 points.
