It is a last resort, a moment when surviving means swallowing your pride to get food on the table.
Rather than clamouring for handouts at Hull Foodbank, those who turn to the charity enter with downcast eyes and shame on their faces.
The foodbank, behind the Jubilee Centre off King Edward Street, is a strange place which seems both depressing and uplifting at the same time.
