'Why I am striking': Train guards write open letter to all passengers



A group of train guards has written an open letter to passengers to tell them why they’re striking – and to say that guards are vital to safety on trains.
Members of the Rail and Maritime Transport Workers Union (RMT) on Merseyrail and Northern Rail will strike again tomorrow as part of the ongoing dispute over plans to introduce driver-only trains.
Merseyrail says its £460m fleet of new trains does not need guards, but the RMT insists that guards are vital for passenger safety.
