Who runs the North East?
Academics at Durham and Northumbria universities have been investigating - and concluded that key services are run by “largely middle aged, middle class people who are not representative of the region’s population.”
It follows a detailed inquiry looking at 100 organisations which shape the lives of 2.61 million people in Northumberland, Tyne and Wear, County Durham, and the Tees Valley.
There are the MPs and council leaders, of course.
But then you have a range of other bodies in local government, health, education, arts and culture and housing.
